A kids' painting workshop for ages 6 to 10
What's your favorite thing to eat? Pizza? A burger as big as your head? Ice cream with rainbow sprinkles?
Good. Come paint it!
American artist Harvey Herman is 93, and he loves pickles. Like really really loves them. They're his favorite food, he says they're the secret to all his energy, and he paints them.
On Saturday, our gallery fills up with his pickle paintings for his exhibition, A Pickle for a Nickel. And Sunday, we get a treat. Harvey is coming into the studio to show us how it's done. He'll share how he paints the food he loves. Then it's your turn. Kids get real paint, real brushes, and an hour and a half to paint their own favorite food, their way. There's no right answer here. If the pizza turns out purple, even better.
Parents, you can paint too. Pull up a chair next to your kid and paint your favorite food as well.
No painting experience needed, and we provide all the materials. Everyone goes home with their paintings.
