At present time Kateryna Bortsova is a painter – a graphic artist with BFA in graphic arts and MFA. Works of Kateryna took part in many international exhibitions (Taiwan, Moscow, Munich, Spain, Italy, USA, etc.). Also, she wins a silver medal in the category “realism” in participation in “Factory of visual art”, New York, USA, and 2015 Emirates Skywards Art of Travel competition, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
At work, it created an allegorical image of a girl holding a rose in his hand real. On her shoulder sits a real night butterfly as a symbol of the mystery of the night.

The portrait painting plays a very significant role in my works. It is interesting for me to depict human nature in my works. The model may be not always people whom I know well. I may see a view of a human face or a bright display of its features which I would like to use in portrait painting. Or it can be famous people who inspire me. But indeed the human character may not be similar to the image painted on my canvas. I create a new character. Sometimes people depicted in my works have collective features or even invented by me.

In my work depicted hands which reaches to the empty plate and kept empty, leaky aluminium spoons. This image is an allegory to the situation taking place in the modern world. That's why big hands hold small, leaky spoons - it's a symbol of the insatiability of the global world society.

Every epoch has its own attributes. And they do not necessarily have large scale such as global political changes, wars, etc. Sometimes attributes of age hiding in the small details, in things which we use every day, and do not give much importance to them. Things, that belong to people of different segments of our time, nationalities, cultures, that reflects traits of their owner character, are represented in my project.
The images on the works of the «Paraphernalia» project were created on a background that consisted of utilitarian objects that we use every day – the elements of mass culture. This is a page from a book or magazine, cards, CD, playing cards, subway tickets, etc.
The main conception of my project is a reflection of difference and unity, cosmopolitism, the eclecticism of our epoch and its heroes. Because things, as well as people, became heroes of our time, in them, we find a reflection of our reality and ourselves.

The images on the "Paraphernalia" project works against a background consisting of objects we use every day - elements of mass culture. These are a page from a book or magazine, cards, CDs, playing cards, underground tickets, etc. In the work "Bubblegum love" the background is made up of candy wrappers. In this way, I want to show how advertising, mass media influence people. The image of the girl shows a symbol of a "sweet life" imposed by the standards of the society around us. But in reality, all this glossy style is just empty candy wrappers.

In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. According to Tzetzes, he was a Laconian hunter who loved everything beautiful. Narcissus was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him, causing some to commit suicide to prove their unrelenting devotion to his striking beauty.
